The San Francisco Giants have a chance for rare interleague success this afternoon when they wrap up their set with the Chicago White Sox. We're just a couple of hours away from the 4:05 p.m. ET first pitch at Oracle Park in San Francisco, airing on ESPN Unlimited. My White Sox vs. Giants prediction breaks down the betting angles for the clash of Noah Schultz (CWS) and Robbie Ray (SFO), with both sides lined with -110 betting odds.

I'll be looking for Ray to stay true to his egregious home and road splits while suppressing the power from a hard-hitting White Sox lineup. I also expect Schultz’s control issues will lead to big days offensively for Willy Adames and Casey Schmitt to round out my MLB picks.

🏆 Who will win White Sox vs. Giants?

San Francisco is trending in the right direction having won each of Ray’s last four home starts, and that is enough for me to ignore its poor 3-10 record in interleague play this season.

Score prediction: Giants 5, White Sox 2

💰 White Sox vs. Giants prediction & best bet

White Sox team total Under 3.5 (+106)

Ray is coming off the worst start of his career, allowing the most earned runs (nine) and hits (11) of his previous 271 starts.

Ray has egregious home and road splits, pitching to a 6.84 ERA in five road starts and a 1.91 ERA in five starts at Oracle Park. The southpaw should continue to use the ballpark’s cavernous dimensions to limit a White Sox offense that is heavily reliant on home runs, as they entered the weekend with the second-most homers hit off left-handed pitching, and the third-best wRC+ in that split.

📡 SBR Edge: A path to success

The White Sox entered the weekend ranked 15th in BABIP (.285) against left-handed pitching with the seventh-highest strikeout rate, so Ray has a path to another strong home start if his swing-and-miss stuff is dialed in.

🔥 Best White Sox vs. Giants player prop bet

Willy Adames Over 0.5 runs (+114)

Willy Adames batted leadoff for the 24th time this season on Friday, but his .252 on-base percentage from that spot is not typical of a true leadoff hitter. However, he still managed to score at least one run in five of his previous six games, and should find himself on base often against a young pitcher who has struggled with command.

Through his first five starts, Noah Schultz had a 15% walk rate with not much swing-and-miss stuff (10.6% SwStr%). He had a 44.1% strike percentage overall, and those free passes issued mitigated a respectable .231 BABIP.

I’m banking on Adames again being a tablesetter in what has been a fantastic month for him. Adames has improved upon poor .176/.229/.324 slash line numbers in April to a current .291/.317/.418 slash line in May.

Someone I'm not banking on? My Rangers vs. Angels prediction breaks that down for you and keeps you covered through the evening!

💣 White Sox vs. Giants home run prediction

Casey Schmitt to hit a home run (+630)

There is no denying Chicago’s offense is a big reason it improved from 14-29 to 22-21 through 43 games compared to last season, as it has averaged a full run more per game and belted 24 more home runs in that split. But Ray has allowed just three home runs in 28 ⅓ home innings this year, and that has me backing a surprising Giants slugger to go deep.

Casey Schmitt entered the season with a lifetime .667 OPS, but now leads all qualified Giants hitters with a 143 wRC+ and .533 slugging percentage.

Schmitt has a great matchup against Noah Schultz, who allowed a 0.13 HR/FB through his first five starts, with his sinker producing a low 33% ground ball rate.

🚀 White Sox vs. Giants same-game parlay

The play on the White Sox team total and Willy Adames to score a run do not impact each other. So to make this a more cohesive same-game parlay, I am swapping Schmitt's home run wager with the Giants to win outright, as Adames scoring a run and Ray limiting Chicago's scoring output directly aids a San Francisco victory.

💡 How I'm betting White Sox vs. Giants: MLB strategy

Follow all of our MLB analysis and expert predictions for baseball season.

Seeing as how I used San Francisco's moneyline odds as one of the legs of my same-game parlay, I wouldn't put anyone off making that their top game prediction. However, I find more value in buying low on Ray after a career-worst outing.

I also could not ignore the Giants' poor 4-10 interleague record when it came to deciding between backing them to win outright or coming up with a more creative wager that still has a decisive edge based on past history and ballpark factors.

📊 Live White Sox vs. Giants odds

The line has shaded to San Francisco's favor, with one of the biggest swings being the drop from an opening number of -115 to -110 at BetMGM.

While most of the best sports betting sites have not budged off an opening total of 8 runs, Caesars and DraftKings both had small windows of time on either side of that total at 7.5 and 8.5. The fact that the juice on the Under at BetMGM has gone from -102 to -115 (53.49% implied odds) suggests the more likely move is down to 7.5 rather than up to 8.5 if the total were to change again before first pitch.
