Two teams fighting to stay alive in the playoff race meet tonight when the Toronto Tempo host the Los Angeles Sparks at 7 p.m. ET (Prime Video) from Coca-Cola Coliseum in Toronto, Canada.

With both teams missing one of their stars, this is essentially a pick'em, and my Sparks vs. Tempo prediction is backing Marina Mabrey to carry Toronto to a win at home.

🏆 Who will win Sparks vs. Tempo?

The Sparks are without the engine of their offense, Kelsey Plum, and while the Tempo are still down Brittney Sykes, their offense has been slightly more explosive than the Sparks' this season, thanks to Mabrey and Nyara Sabally. Mabrey and Sabally's inside-outside combo should take advantage of a struggling L.A. defense and help Toronto win a high-scoring game at home.

Score prediction: Tempo 92, Sparks 90

💰 Sparks vs. Tempo prediction & best bet

Tempo ML (-110)

While being without Sykes has been tough for Toronto, Sandy Brondello's team is still capable of beating opponents with iffy defenses. The Sparks have the second-worst defensive rating in the league (111.6) and allow the highest effective field-goal percentage in the W (53.8%).

With Toronto playing with the third-highest pace in the league (80.2) and scoring the third-most PPG (89.4), it should be able to take advantage of the Sparks' defensive shortcomings.

And without Plum, who's No. 2 in the WNBA in PPG (23.9) and No. 6 in APG (6.4), the Sparks' offense just isn't the same.

🔥 Best Sparks vs. Tempo player prop bet

Marina Mabrey Over 22.5 points (-104)

The loss of Sykes has been tough for Toronto, but luckily, Mabrey is capable of carrying this offense. She's averaging a career-high 19.4 PPG in her first season with the expansion team and has put up 30 PPG in her last two outings without Sykes.

Mabrey's volume alone should help her put up 23-plus tonight; she's seventh in the league in field-goal attempts per game (14.9) and fourth in usage rate (29.9%).

The Sparks also allow 8.6 threes per game, and Mabrey's at her best from beyond the arc, hitting the second-most 3-pointers per game in the league (3.2) on 39% shooting.

🚀 Sparks vs. Tempo same-game parlay

For Toronto to win, it needs Mabrey and its offense to take advantage of a Sparks' defense that's been holding it back all season. And without Plum out there, Los Angeles could struggle to keep up down the stretch.
