The Mets are 3-1 in McLean’s last four starts and 5-2 in his last seven, so I'll take a flier on the home underdogs winning behind their most talented pitcher.

The Dodgers have won seven of Yamamoto’s last nine starts, and the righty has pitched to a 2.30 ERA, a .170 opponent’s batting average, .222 opponent’s on-base percentage, and .479 opponent’s OPS. 

Yamamoto’s arm looked lively despite throwing 102 pitches for his third career complete game, with a 97-mph average fastball velocity in the seventh inning.

Meanwhile, McLean is coming off tying a season-high 10 strikeouts. Over his last six starts, he's 4-2 with a 1.95 ERA and an 11.4 K/9 ratio while pitching at least six innings each time out.

Bo Bichette Under 0.5 hits (+180)

Yamamoto is one of two pitchers since earned runs became an official statistic in both leagues in 1913 with a 12-start span on the road of posting all quality outings and 46 or fewer hits allowed. And earlier this year, he joined Greg Maddux as the only pitchers in the last 50 years to retire their final 20 batters in a game on three separate occasions (regular season or postseason). 

Yamamoto ranks in the top five in WHIP, opponents’ batting average, and opponents’ OPS. He also entered the month as one of three qualified starters to hold both left-handed and right-handed batters to a .210 batting average or lower.

Bichette entered this series amid a four-game hitting streak, but was mired in an 0-for-11 stretch prior to that. I’m selling high on him batting .300 (51-for-170) since the start of June.

Max Muncy to hit a home run (+450)

Max Muncy belted his 229th career home run with the Dodgers earlier this week, passing Ron Cey for the fifth-most in franchise history (he's 13 behind Roy Campanella for fourth). Muncy entered this series with three home runs in his previous six games, which matched his total from his prior 36.

The slugger is 1-for-3 in a small sample size against McLean. The righty hasn't allowed a home run in four straight starts (spanning 24 innings), but six of his 10 home runs given up have come to left-handed batters. Lefties have posted an OPS 123 points higher than righties against McLean, and 70% of his home runs have been served up at Citi Field.

Backing Bichette to go hitless pairs nicely with the chances of the full game Under cashing. Since Muncy hitting a home run would contradict the Under play, I'm swapping the third leg of this SGP for him just to record a hit, which he's done in three straight games and five of the previous six.

Though I tipped the Mets to win outright in my game prediction, I much prefer the Under as my actual best bet. While the Mets have been successful when McLean has toed the rubber of late, it's difficult to ignore Los Angeles' 9-2 record in Yamamoto's last 11 starts. 

There were plenty of Mets hitters who I could have backed to go hitless, but I landed on Bichette, whose odds return a better value since he's batted .300 since June.

Even though the betting splits are less than 2/1 in favor of Los Angeles, the line still moved as much as 15 cents at the best MLB betting sites. That suggests much of the 61% of the early wagers placed on the Dodgers' moneyline has come from sharp action.

Currently, the best sports betting sites are split between an O/U of 7.5 and 8. The betting splits are near dead even (53/47 in favor of the Under). Caesars and DraftKings are the only sportsbooks that have yet to budge off the opening number of 8, as all others have been teetering between 7.5 and 8 prior to landing on the current number.
