⛳ Puerto Rico Open Odds, Field & Pick to Win 2026: Long-Shot Week at Grand Reserve GC

Rasmus Hojgaard (+1100) is this week's betting favorite by the Puerto Rico Open odds for Grand Reserve Golf Club. I eye a 100/1 long shot with my best pick to win.

Grand Reserve Golf Club hosts a 120-player rotation for this week's alternate-field tournament, headlined by Rasmus Hojgaard (+1100) and Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen (+1950) atop the outright odds market. While the Arnold Palmer Invitational draws the Signature Event crowd, the 2026 Puerto Rico Open odds feature Davis Thompson, Christiaan Bezuidenhout, and Seamus Power. John Daly II makes his PGA Tour debut this week.

Karl Vilips arrived in Rio Grande last year to secure the title. Our coverage explores current pricing, historical trends for the event, and my specific wagering strategy, paired with essential performance metrics and a complete look at the course.

Stay tuned throughout the week for the rest of our golf picks.

Blades Brown (+8400 via DraftKings)

I immediately scrolled well down the oddsboard for my first outright bet this week for the Puerto Rico Open. Blades Brown, a former top amateur who went straight from high school to pro golf last year, is my best bet to go from a win in Puerto Rico to PGA stardom.

Though Brown missed the cut in last week's Cognizant Classic, he finished T-18 in The American Express earlier this year. This is a glorified Korn Ferry Tour event, where Brown had runner-up and T-7 finishes last season.

Brown is above average in both driving distance and accuracy, and he's an excellent putter (0.51 strokes gained: putting). A winning $10 bet will return a profit of $840 if Brown claims his first professional victory.

I like this bet less with the odds shortening from +10000 on Monday to +8400 as of Wednesday morning. I would not bet this if the number gets any lower.

🏝️ The Players Championship invitation

The winner of the Puerto Rico Open gains invitation to next week's Players Championship, if not otherwise exempt. The winner also earns a two-year exemption on the PGA Tour.

🎯 Puerto Rico Open long shots

Here are some of the long shots I'm considering for the Puerto Rico Open with odds longer than 100/1. I advised small-unit wagers (0.25 units or less) on each of these, or anyone you wish to back.

  • Erik van Rooyen (+10000 via bet365): Long driver with strokes gained putting in three of his past four events
  • Adam Svensson (+11000 via DraftKings): Strong on approach and around the greens
  • Nick Dunlap (+12500 via bet365): Coastal winds should help neutralize erratic driver, and his putter can shine in a birdie-fest
  • Christo Lamprecht (+10000 via bet365): One of the longest drivers in any field and a Korn Ferry Tour winner in August

The sponsor exemptions for the Puerto Rico Open focus on top college players and local Puerto Ricans. Here's the full list:

πŸ’‘ How I'm betting the Puerto Rico Open

It's important to note that this is an alternate-field event, running opposite the Arnold Palmer Invitational. It's a smaller 120-man and watered-down field. I'm only interested in betting long shots and obvious values in the outright market this week.

Three of the past seven tournament winners in Puerto Rico had pre-tournament outright odds of 100/1 or longer. I come to this event page at our best golf betting sites with reduced wagers, looking to sprinkle on two or three long shots.

While we've seen past winners like Tony Finau, Viktor Hovland, and Nico Echavarria go on to bigger and better things on the PGA Tour, they weren't nearly as recognizable at the time of their victory at Grand Reserve Golf Club.

Course info

While Grand Reserve Golf Club is long at 7,506 yards, it poses little challenge to low scores. The greens are large and generous. The fairways are wide and navigable.

Four of the past seven 72-hole winning scores were -20 or better.

πŸ“Š Key stats: Handicapping Grand Reserve

Unlike the Bermuda-heavy Florida swing, the Puerto Rico Open requires a specialized statistical lens. Grand Reserve is a coastal resort course that prioritizes Paspalum specialists and "low-spin" ball strikers who can navigate Caribbean trade winds.

Stat Category Weight Why it matters for Puerto Rico
SG: Paspalum putting 35% Paspalum is "sticky" and slower than Bermuda. Standard speed-putters often struggle, while specialists like Brandon Wu and Adam Long consistently overperform on this surface.
Birdie-or-better percentage 25% This is a "birdie fest." With the winning score often reaching -20 or lower, you cannot afford to "par" your way to a top-10 finish.
SG: Coastal wind 20% The back nine is exposed to the ocean. I prioritize players who rank highly in low-apex flight and SG: Total (Moderate to Extreme Wind) to avoid the "blow-up" holes at 1st and 14th.
Proximity 150-175 yards 10% Large, generous fairways mean the driver is rarely the decider; the tournament is won with mid-iron accuracy into these massive greens.
Scrambling (Paspalum) 10% While GIR is usually high here, the grain on Paspalum fringe is aggressive. I look for players with success at Vidanta or Corales Puntacana.

⏰ Round 1 tee times

Thursday's opening-round tee times will begin at 5:45 a.m. ET off split tees. Troy Merritt, Jonathan Byrd, and Takumi Kanaya begin on Hole 1, with Chad Ramey, Matti Schmid, and S.H. Kim going off Hole 10.

There are no feature groups with this being an alternate event on Golf Channel. Blades Brown - my pick to win the Puerto Rico Open - will tee off at 7:02 a.m. ET on Hole 10, with playing partners A.J. Ewart and Davis Chatfield. I have a slight preference for Thursday's morning tee times for any first-round leader bets this week.

🌦️ Puerto Rico Open weather

A rough weather week near Rio Grande, Puerto Rico is expected to begin clearing up Thursday. Wind and rain will be worst throughout Round 1, with the temperature around 84 degrees. There's a 69% chance of precipitation (0.14 inches) and 17% chance of thunderstorms, with wind gusts up to 35 mph on Thursday.

Things will improve throughout the tournament, but the winds will remain high, as is often the case at Grand Reserve Golf Club.
