After taking the first two games of this three-game series, the Colorado Rockies look for a sweep of the Houston Astros when they meet in the final game of this three-game interleague tilt. The pitching matchup features Cristian Javier and Michael Lorenzen, and first pitch from Coors Field in Denver is set for 3:10 p.m. ET (ESPN Unlimited), with the Astros listed as -160 betting favorites.

My Astros vs. Rockies prediction eschews the steep moneyline odds and instead expects another slugfest to ensue given both pitchers’ rough starts to the season. That has me confident in a batter and home run prop cashing as well, which all leads to a juicy +724 same-game parlay payout involving different criteria as part of our MLB picks.

🏆 Who will win Astros vs. Rockies?

Prior to Colorado’s nine-run outburst thanks to an eight-run fifth inning in the series opening win, the Rockies had scored six runs in their first three home games, tied for their second fewest runs in three home games to start the season in franchise history. Houston has been the more consistent team to this point, and won’t squander an opportunity to salvage one game from arguably MLB’s worst team.

Score prediction: Astros 7, Rockies 6

💰 Astros vs. Rockies prediction & best bet

Over 11.5 (-102)

Colorado was due to positively regress from a .541 team OPS in its first homestand. Its hitting has been timely through the first two games of this series, going 7-for-18 with runners in scoring position, with more batters having multiple hits (six) than have gone hitless (four) overall.

Cristian Javier has allowed an eye-popping .500 on-base percentage and 1.048 OPS through two starts. That doesn’t exude confidence coming off a series where Houston pitching allowed 23 runs in three games to an Athletics lineup that mustered just 17 runs in the previous six to open the season.

📡 SBR Edge: Rare series victory

Perhaps the Rockies have turned over a new leaf in the early part of this season, as they have now won two of their last three series after not earning their first series victory until June last year.

🔥 Best Astros vs. Rockies player prop bet

TJ Rumfield Over 0.5 RBIs (+175)

TJ Rumfield has reached base safely in all but one game since making his MLB debut on March 27. And before one speculates that he is just another byproduct of the altitude at Coors Field, note that he batted .429 with a 1.097 OPS on the road and consecutive three-hit days before heading home.

Cristian Javier has already allowed a 2.2 HR/9 rate already this season, and his 39.3% fly ball rate is on pace to be the worst of his career. That doesn’t play well at Coors Field, but I’m more comfortable backing Rumfield’s RBI prop instead of his odds to hit a home run given Javier’s .308 BAbip and high 21.4% walk rate.

There should be plenty of traffic on the basepaths for Rumfield to drive in a run for the third time in the last six games.

💣 Astros vs. Rockies home run prediction

Cam Smith to hit a home run (+650)

Rockies righty Michael Lorenzen was already coming off a season where he allowed a career-high 25 home runs. He’s on pace to shatter that mark in his first season in the altitude, surrendering two home runs in three innings in his only home start, and pitching to a 3.7 HR/9 rate.

Cam Smith entered the series as one of the hardest swingers in baseball. Smith’s 70.5 mph fast swing rate was already the eighth-highest among all batters in 2026 (min. 20 swings), and he paid that off with the longest home run of the season (462 feet) and two total extra-base hits in the series opener.

This is Smith’s first time facing Lorenzen, but I am not put off by the fact that the hurler has limited current Astros hitters to a .194/.254/.420 slash line in 62 at-bats, since none of that data came from Coors Field.

Andrew Brennan is also backing another Astros slugger with his home run predictions today.

🚀 Astros vs. Rockies same-game parlay

All three legs of this same-game parlay feed the same narrative that I expect this series to conclude with a slugfest. I am swapping Cam Smith's home run odds for a safer batter prop for this parlay. Jeremy Pena bats atop the Astros lineup, maximizing his number of at-bats, and he has four hits in nine career at-bats against Lorenzen, while also homering off him once. Had I involved Smith's home run odds as the third leg of this parlay, it would've brought the potential payout to +3985 odds.

💡 How I'm betting Astros vs. Rockies: MLB strategy

Follow all of our MLB analysis and expert predictions for baseball season.

My betting approach to this game is consistent with what I've done since Opening Day, which has led to profits among all categories concerning game picks and player props. I always devote less of my bankroll (0.25 units at most) to the less dependable home run props, but have no issue getting more aggressive on other player props, like Rumfield's RBIs that stand to turn a nice profit.

📊 Live Astros vs. Rockies odds

The best sports betting sites have shortened the Rockies on the moneyline throughout the day despite most bettors backing the Astros. Houston has received 80% of the moneyline wagers at DraftKings, and that is seemingly more attractive to some bettors instead of the standard -110 juice (carrying a 52.38% implied probability) for them to cover the 1.5 runs on the run line.

Most sportsbooks offer a total of 11, and bettors are nearly totally split with 51% of the bets on the Over at DraftKings.
