College Basketball Predictions & Best Bets Today: ATS Picks and Prop Bets (Monday, Feb. 16)

Monday’s slate is more loaded than usual thanks to the President’s Day holiday, and I have scoured the action to comprise my college basketball predictions and best bets today.

My two ATS plays involve rematches between conference opponents, but I expect only one result to be different. Elsewhere, my two college basketball player props come from the only ranked vs. ranked matchup of the day as Iowa State hosts Houston. It all adds up to a four-leg parlay with +1369 odds.

Colgate vs. Boston University prediction: Colgate University -1.5 (-110 via BetMGM)

Boston University is in the midst of a season-long four-game winning streak. But each of those wins came against the bottom teams in the Patriot League. The Terriers are 0-5 against the top four teams in the conference and 1-6 overall in their last six games decided by six points or fewer. 

This is not a typical Matt Langel Colgate offense, as it is on pace to have the lowest 3-point attempt and assist rate of his tenure. But even the Raiders’ shooting will receive a jolt when facing a Terriers defense that ranks in the bottom 30 in 3-point percentage allowed.

Stephen F. Austin vs. Texas A&M CC prediction: Texas A&M CC +6.5 (-110 via BetMGM)

Stephen F. Austin is in control for the Southland Conference regular season title, owning a two-game lead with five to play. 

The Lumberjacks are coming off a nine-point road win over a UTRGV squad that had won eight straight. But the Islanders are capable of pulling a home upset, with a relentless rim attack that accounts for the seventh-highest free-throw rate in the country.

Stephen F. Austin funnels everything to the middle of the court, but a bench that ranks 235th in minutes should be tested with Texas A&M CC getting the Lumberjacks in foul trouble.

Milan Momcilovic Over 3.5 made 3-pointers (+122 via bet365)

Houston’s defense is impenetrable inside the arc, ranking 13th in 2-point percentage allowed (45.5%). The Cougars also allow the third-highest 3-point attempt rate in Big 12 play, and Iowa State gets 34.8% of its scoring from beyond the arc against conference opponents.

These are great odds for Milan Momcilovic to go Over this projected total, as he has made at least three 3-pointers in seven of the last eight games. Momcilovic has the second-best 3-point shooting percentage in the country (51.6%) and does not lack volume, posting 19 3-point attempts over the last two games. 

Joshua Jefferson Under 13.5 points (-105 via bet365)

In Iowa State’s big win over Kansas on Saturday, it scored 14 or fewer points in the first and last 10-minute segments. The Jayhawks played the kind of defense they did in the first matchup, where they held Iowa State to single-digit transition points and its second-lowest rim total in Big 12 play.

Joshua Jefferson has faced three top-15 KenPom teams all season, and scored 12 or fewer points in each. Houston also held him to just four points on 1-of-9 shooting last year, which snapped a streak of 13 straight games scoring in double figures.
