Finally, at long last, Super Bowl Sunday has arrived. In less than hours time the dust will be settled on the works of it, and either Mike Vrabel of the New England Patriots or Mike Macdonald of the Seattle Seahawks will have had their first Super Bowl Gatorade bath (at least, probably...they could go without, I suppose, that's boring). Our guide on how to bet the Super Bowl Gatorade color prop will help set you up for the ultimate late-game thrill.

The Seahawks enter today's 6:30 p.m. ET (NBC/Peacock) kickoff at Levi's Stadium as a 4.5-point betting favorite, so naturally, the Gatorade colors leading the way line up with a Seattle victory. But what happens if the Patriots pull off the upset? Or what if you just like another color more, and want your Super Bowl predictions to go off script a bit.

This market has shifted a lot. The Seattle choice for yellow/lime green has moved to -110, making it almost a certainty if they win that they'll go that color.

🎨 Color Coordination?

One of many angles you can consider when choosing your Gatorade color is to choose a color that plays into the winning team.

  • Yellow/Lime Green (-110 at DraftKings, +115 at FanDuel) has surged ahead and replaced the previous favorite (Orange) - a popular choice to match the Seahawks third jersey
  • If the Pats can pull off the upset, will they just lean into the classic New England Blue (+380 at FanDuel), or could Red (+800 at Draftkings, FanDuel) be a dark horse?

📜 Super Bowl Gatorade color betting odds history

Part of what makes the Super Bowl Gatorade color prop so intriguing is that historically there hasn't been a real front-runner.

A great way to determine the possible color of Gatorade is to watch the NFC and AFC Championship games, as the winning team will almost certainly dump something on their head coach.

Here's a breakdown of the color of the winning coach's Gatorade shower over the years:

Game Winning Team Color
Super Bowl 21 New York Giants Orange
Super Bowl 25 New York Giants Clear
Super Bowl 28 Dallas Cowboys Clear
Super Bowl 29 San Francisco 49ers Clear
Super Bowl 30 Dallas Cowboys Clear
Super Bowl 35 Baltimore Ravens Yellow

Super Bowl 55 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Blue

Super Bowl 58 Kansas City Chiefs Purple
Super Bowl 59 Philadelphia Eagles Yellow

We've witnessed most winning coaches drenched in Gatorade after Super Bowls since the tradition began at Super Bowl 21 in 1987. Since Super Bowl 35, with the exception of a few years featuring curmudgeon Bill Belichick, nearly every coach has taken the Gatorade bath. Last time the Patriots and Seahawks clashed in the Super Bowl, that's exactly what happened.

Let's take a look at the breakdown of winning Super Bowl Gatorade baths by color:

  • Clear: 8
  • Orange: 6
  • Blue: 4
  • None: 4
  • Purple: 4
  • Yellow: 4

Clear, or water, leads here. However, it hasn't appeared in a Super Bowl postgame shower since Super Bowl 42 when Tom Coughlin was drenched.

Here's a look at the winning Super Bowl Gatorade color betting odds from the past five years.

  • Yellow (-190, Eagles 2025)
  • Purple (+275, Chiefs 2024)
  • Purple (+1000, Chiefs 2023)
  • Blue (+310, Rams 2023)
  • Blue (+650, Buccaneers 2021)

🍾 Dry celebrations?

The AFC and NFC Championship Games aren't far in the rearview mirror, and here's what we can garner: very little.

Both Vrabel and Macdonald stayed dry in there game. Vrabel likely in an effort to avoid getting pneumonia; Macdonald for reasons unknown. Unfortunately, we can't glean anything meaningful from that.

💰 Make your pick & choose your sportsbook
