I wrote a few days ago about how the Colorado Avalanche were in dire straits against the Vegas Golden Knights. Tonight, the situation is even worse, and they may be without numerous key cogs. My Avalanche vs. Golden Knights prediction breaks down why Vegas will complete the sweep.

Vegas' Carter Hart has been a major x-factor during this series, stealing games for Tuesday's hosts. However, Colorado remains the -115 moneyline betting favorite. Double "however," that's the shortest line they've had all series. Puck drop from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas is set for 9 p.m. ET, with the game airing on ESPN.

Golden Knights moneyline (-104 via FanDuel) 0.5u → 0.48u Vegas continues to win the goaltending battle; Colorado injuries

Gabriel Landeskog 3+ shots on goal (-105 via bet365) 1u → 0.95u Great price for a player getting plenty of pucks on net
Gabriel Landeskog 4+ shots on goal (+250 via bet365) 0.5u -> 1.25u Small flier in case MacKinnon is limited

🏆 Who will win Avalanche vs. Golden Knights?

If ya can't beat 'em, join 'em? I've been on the Avs for the entire series, and Carter Hart continues to ruin my plans. Well, hands in the air, I give up. Hart has been absolutely frustrating the Avs, saving three goals above expected over the course of the series.

Colorado is also dealing with numerous injuries. Cale Makar returned for Game 3 but was a game-time decision, Nathan MacKinnon was being evaluated and treated on Tuesday, and Valeri Nichushkin was limited to just eight minutes in Game 3. MacKinnon is expected to play, but we don't really know how long or what type of role.

Vegas will finish the job tonight.

Score prediction: Golden Knights 3, Avalanche 2

🩼 An Avalanche of injuries

It remains to be seen whether Nathan MacKinnon, Valeri Nichushkin, Ross Colton, or Brent Burns will suit up for tonight's game. All four missed the morning skate, as reported by Corey Masisak of the Denver Post. ESPN has since reported that MacKinnon will be in the lineup, but we don't know what sort of role he'll play tonight.

💰 Avalanche vs. Golden Knights prediction & best bet

Under 6 (+100)

The first point of order here is the Carter Hart situation: he's just been lights out, saving three goals above expected in the series despite being peppered with shots.

But the second point is the elimination-game angle. Those types of games tend toward tighter-checking affairs, usually, with teams a little leery to take any needless risk. You couple that with Vegas playing a "lockdown" system that limits high-danger chances, and the injuries to the Avalanche, and it feels like it could be an Under in the making.

🔥 Best Avalanche vs. Golden Knights player prop bet

Gabriel Landeskog to record 3+ shots on goal

The reasoning here is the same as when we cashed this in Game 3, as the Avs captain recorded six shots on goal. Landeskog is spending plenty of his time-on-ice in the offensive zone in the playoffs, and the pressure to produce will be stepped up considerably tonight.

He's logged over 20 minutes in each of the first three games of the series, getting three-plus shots on goal in each, culminating with 24 minutes and six shots on Sunday. Top power-play minutes and top-line minutes have resulted in the Swede posting three shots per game over his 10 outings. He'll be eager to get rubber on net tonight in what might be Colorado's last game of the season.

This is trading in the near -120 range at some of best sports betting sites. Getting it near even-money is great value.

🚀 Avalanche vs. Golden Knights same-game parlay

I'm going to place this bet at bet365, where you can find some of the best sportsbook promos. Even in the world of SGPs this isn't my favorite one ever, so I'm going to dial it back a little bit from my normal 0.25 units and play just 0.15 units on it.

I'm just rolling the Vegas moneyline, the Under 6.5, and the Landeskog 3+ shots on goal. I like the Under 6 on a straight bet, but in the parlay I'm happy to take the juiced Under 6.5 odds rather than risk a push leg hurting the overall value.

💵 Avalanche vs. Golden Knights SGP picks

  • Golden Knights moneyline (-105)
  • Under 6.5 (-135)
  • Garbriel Landeskog to record 3+ shots on goal (-105)

Best odds: +625 via bet365 (0.15u -> 0.94u)

💡 How I'm betting Avalanche vs. Golden Knights

Follow all of our NHL analysis and expert predictions this season.

I had played exactly 2.25 units on each game ahead of Game 3, but I stepped it up for that one. Tonight I'm playing 2.65 units, still above normal but dialed back from Sunday's game, since elimination games can get a little tangly and don't always follow the script.

I am, however, interested in Landeskog's role and uptick in shots enough to push the envelop a little on him getting four tonight. Might regret that if the Avs play a little slower or if MacKinnon is full-force, but the Colorado captain is primed to (try to) put the team on his back.

📊 Live Avalanche vs. Golden Knights odds: Game 4

If you were quick to this line at the best sports betting apps you might have been able to catch the home side at plus-money (+105 range) but that pretty quickly corrected in the hours following open and things have settled down since then. I wouldn't expect a lot more movement as the day goes on, although if public money rolls in on the Avalanche today - which might very well be the case - then we might see it get back to that range. I don't suspect it moves any steeper than +105 under any circumstances.

The total is trading at 6 or 6.5 depending on your operator, and I'm comfortable with the Under on either. I'll risk the push for the better odds on the 6, but if you aren't interested in that game then I don't see any problem with doing the 6.5.
