My NHL player props and best bets tonight feature four of my favorite plays - three of which come in especially favorable matchups.

John Tavares has historically dominated the Philadelphia Flyers, while Miro Heiskanen and Wyatt Johnston should be primed for big nights against one of the league’s bottom teams as the Dallas Stars pursue a franchise-record ninth straight win. My final play backs Nathan MacKinnon, who has recorded consecutive two-point outings for the Colorado Avalanche.

πŸ’° Best NHL player prop bet tonight

John Tavares Over 0.5 points (-130) vs. Flyers

With a six-game point streak totaling 13 points against the Flyers, Tavares saves his best for Monday's opponents. He enters the game with a point in four of the previous five encounters, with his four-game point streak ending in Saturday's loss to the Ottawa Senators.

The Maple Leafs are mired in poor play, but they've scored at least three goals at Scotiabank Arena in seven of the previous 10 games. His anytime goal prop is also appealing, as he has a goal in three of the last four encounters.

The bet is at the outer edge of my limit, and I'd play it to -135.

πŸ”₯ More NHL player prop picks

Miro Heiskanen Over 0.5 assists (-120) at Canucks

There's a ton to love about this bet. Heiskanen has an assist in seven of the previous eight games, including the last five. He has 12 helpers in the last 10 games and is one of the most instrumental reasons for the Stars' eight-game win streak.

He notched an apple the last time he played the Canucks, who have the league's worst home defensive record, conceding 3.71 goals per game. The teams being on opposite trajectories, with the Canucks allowing at least five in three of the last four, is the reason for the 5-star confidence.

💡 Red Wings vs. Predators prediction!

I covered Dallas' previous opponent in my Red Wings vs. Predators prediction

Wyatt Johnston anytime goal (+130) at Canucks

This pick was between Jason Robertson and Johnston, with both snipers sniping at a consistent rate. Johnston is feeling it a bit more recently, though, with seven goals in the last 10 games.

He enters on a two-game scoring streak, netting two at home against the Seattle Kraken and one versus the Nashville Predators. Johnston managed to find the net once in the last two meetings with the Canucks, who have lost 19 of the last 21 contests.

His +130 odds are also better than Robertson's +110.

Nathan MacKinnon Over 1.5 points (-120) at Kings

MacKinnon has reentered the NHL fray angrier and more determined, trying to move on from the devastating events that took place in the Olympic final. He has certainly done that, with four points in two games.

But it's his recent torrid spell against the Kings that compelled me to back the Hart Trophy odds favorite despite the short -120 odds. MacKinnon has 10 points in the last five meetings with the Kings, which includes four multipoint outings.

Even with their coaching change, I don't see the Kings stopping the Hulk-like 'Dawg.

πŸ’‘ How I'm betting NHL player props tonight

Follow all of our NHL analysis and expert predictions this season.

Tavares gets 2 units because of the alignment of his previous exploits against the Flyers and his current offensive form. I also expect the Maple Leafs to turn in a rare, solid overall performance.

Heiskanen and Johnston's matchup against the league's worst team instills confidence in the second and third wagers. Vancouver often looks like it belongs in the AHL, and Dallas is attempting a franchise-best nine-game win streak, which is why I doubled up on that game.

While I'd usually avoid betting against a team that just changed coaches, MacKinnon provides an exception to the rule. Also, interim head coach D.J. Smith isn't a new hire as he was promoted from associate coach, providing a loophole of sorts to my tacit rule.
