A chance to secure first place in Group C is still up for grabs heading into Wednesday's showdown, and my Scotland vs. Brazil prediction breaks down all the action ahead of kickoff from Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla., at 6 p.m. ET. You can catch all the action on FOX, Telemundo, or FOX One.

Scotland needs just one point to secure a place in the knockout round for the first time, but my World Cup predictions are backing the Selecao to claim top spot in the group with a narrow victory.

Brazil is the overwhelming -300 betting favorite to win after beating Haiti 3-0, while Scotland has been given slim +750 odds to win this game in the wake of a 1-0 defeat to Morocco.

⚽ Who will win Scotland vs. Brazil ?

It's been 26 years since they last met at a World Cup, but Scotland tends to play well against Brazil on the sport's biggest stage. However, we expect the latest installment to end the same way as their last three World Cup games, with Brazil winning.

Although Scotland has a history of frustrating Brazil in this fixture, the talent gap will prove too great for Steve Clarke's men to pull off a miracle in Miami.

After a slow start in a 1-1 draw with Morocco, Brazil kicked its World Cup into gear with a convincing win over Haiti - the team that Scotland narrowly beat courtesy of a fortunate deflection.  The warm and muggy conditions in South Florida should also benefit Brazil against the Scots.

Score prediction: Brazil 2, Scotland 0

💵 My best bet: Player to be Booked – Grant Hanley (+370)

It's going to be a long day at the office for Scotland center-back Grant Hanley. With Scotland set to field a defensive lineup in anticipation of an onslaught from Brazil, Hanley's deficiencies at the back are going to be exposed against a Brazil squad loaded with elite attacking options.

Lacking the pace needed to track players such as Vinicius Junior and Matheus Cunha, we're backing Hanley to get booked when he becomes overwhelmed trying to contain Brazil's explosive attack. Although he's strong in the air, Hanley is at risk of committing cynical fouls when Brazil forwards probe for openings around the penalty area.

Vinicius Junior, LW, Brazil (+120)

Vinicius Jr. has been the driving force behind Brazil's success so far at the World Cup. After scoring in the first two games, the Real Madrid winger is going to be unplayable against Scotland and will score his third goal of the tournament to stay in contention for the Golden Boot award.

The 25-year-old is one of the most exciting players at the World Cup. As he did against Morocco, Vinicius can take control of matches and influence results with his blinding pace and otherworldly dribbling. Whether he's creating a scoring opportunity from the wing or cutting inside to unleash a thunderous shot on goal, Scotland defenders are going to have their hands full on Wednesday.

Best Scotland vs. Brazil goal-scorer pick: Vinicius Jr. (+120 via FanDuel)

🥅 Will both teams score in Scotland vs. Brazil ?

No, both teams won't score in Miami. Scotland's attempts to avoid losing will result in a severe lack of scoring opportunities against Carlo Ancelotti's Brazil squad. Although they played well defensively after conceding an early goal against Morocco, Scotland's struggles in attack in that game will likely carry over to Miami, where conditions will be less favorable compared to Boston.

Scotland experienced hot weather in Boston, but temperatures in Miami are expected to soar to nearly 90°F at kickoff, with humidity making it feel even warmer. This will be especially difficult to deal with if Scotland sits deep and is forced to chase the ball for most of the match.

Both teams to score (BTTS) pick: No (-165 via DraftKings)
