The Los Angeles Lakers hope to finish off an unexpected series win over the Houston Rockets when they face each other in Game 5. Tipoff is 10 p.m. ET on Wednesday at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on ESPN.

For the first time all series, the Lakers are favored to win as 4.5-point favorites. My Rockets vs. Lakers player props today trust the market's expectations for Game 5, which is why I'm betting against two Houston players as part of Wednesday's NBA picks and best bets.

πŸ’° Best Rockets vs. Lakers prop bet

Alperen Sengun Under 38.5 points + rebounds + assists (-116)

The only time Rockets center Alperen Sengun has cleared this PRA line in this series was during an overtime thriller in Game 3. In the other three contests, Sengun is averaging 19.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 4.3 assists.

And yet, this PRA line is the highest it's been all series.

The Lakers should attack Sengun on defense as they did in the third quarter of Game 2, so don't be surprised if LeBron James and Austin Reaves try that. I'd also expect James to guard Sengun on several possessions. Both aspects work in my favor for this Under.

πŸ”₯ More Rockets vs. Lakers prop picks

Reed Sheppard Under 7.5 rebounds + assists (+110)

When the Lakers aren't attacking Sengun on defense, Rockets guard Reed Sheppard will be their victim. James and Reaves should constantly put both of them in actions tonight, which could prompt Houston coach Ime Udoka to take his young guard off the floor.

Sheppard's shooting is important for Houston's offense, but he's limited in other areas. He's only averaging 1.5 rebounds per game in this series. He's also chipping in 5.3 assists, though he's been doing that on an efficient 7.3 potential dimes per contest.

I project closer to six rebounds + assists, highlighting the value of this +110 price tag at BetMGM.

πŸš€ Rockets vs. Lakers same-game parlay

It's clear that I'm banking on some Houston struggles in Game 5, which is why I've added the Lakers' moneyline to this parlay. This is the first time in the entire series that Los Angeles has been favored to defeat Houston. I think we should probably pay attention.

πŸ’‘ How I'm betting Rockets vs. Lakers

Follow all of our NBA analysis and expert predictions this season.

The Lakers are favored for the first time in this Round 1 series, and there are already reports suggesting the Rockets could reshape their roster this offseason. That’s hardly the backdrop you want for a Houston team attempting to become the first in history to climb out of a 3-0 hole.

I’m not reading too much into the Lakers’ Game 4 loss, as it had all the makings of a scheduled letdown. They still hold clear offensive advantages in this matchup, especially with Reaves expected back in the lineup. Los Angeles should consistently target Sengun and Sheppard, which could force one or both into reduced minutes.

With that in mind, I’m comfortable fading both Rockets players tonight.
