🏒 Bruins vs. Sabres Prediction & Odds: Game 2 NHL Picks Today (April 21)

The Bruins will look to leave Buffalo with a split, but do they have what it takes to hang with the speedy Sabres.

The Buffalo Sabres opened their best-of-seven NHL playoff series with the Boston Bruins on Sunday with a late comeback win. Game 2 from the keyed up KeyBank Center in Buffalo, N.Y., is set to go off tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET (ESPN).

My Bruins vs. Sabres prediction is expecting a different result. Buffalo is a -175 betting favorite to leave home up 2-0, but the outstanding play of Jeremy Swayman should help the visitors earn the split. I'm also going to highlight my favorite player prop for this game - it's going to be eerily similar to the play we made in the opener that cashed.

🏆 Who will win Bruins vs. Sabres?

I'm banking on two factors leading the Bruins to victory in this pivotal game two: veteran leadership and Jeremy Swayman.

Boston's roster is in been-there-done-that territory, and will hit the ice tonight knowing the importance of going back home with a split. While Boston looked outplayed many times in the opener, it will tighten up defensively, and it has the x-factor.

Swayman was solid before he was hung out to dry by his defense in the waning minutes of the opening game. His positioning and rebound control was that of a goalie who was in the zone.

Score prediction: Bruins 3, Sabres 1

💰 Bruins vs. Sabres prediction & best bet

Bruins (+145)

The Bruins veteran leadership, players like David Pastrnak and Charlie McAvoy, will help keep the locker room in check for Game 2. They know the importance of heading home with the split and not in a 2-0 hole.

Swayman nearly stole the first game already, before the defense collapsed in the waning minutes. Conversely, Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen wasn't so awesome, allowing three goals on just 20 shots (-1.09 saved above expected).

Boston has already shown multiple times this season that it has what it takes to beat Buffalo. With things settling down, it will get the job done tonight.

🔥 Best Bruins vs. Sabres player prop bet

Jonathan Aspirot Over 1.5 blocked shots (+110)

I'm resisting the urge to just copy and paste my player prop analysis from Game 1 here that cashed, but we are indeed going back to that same well, so let me summarize:

Aspirot averages in the range of a shot and a half per game, so this isn't much extra to ask. It's something that the coaching staff has noticed, and it's what's kept him on the ice.

Players are always more eager to sell out in the playoffs to keep pucks from the net, and now Boston is in a "can't afford to lose" situation.

He blocked three in the opener, and this price is gone up. I'm expecting him to hit two again in Game 2.

🚀 Bruins vs. Sabres same-game parlay

Our three plays above would make an okay SGP, but we're going to actually put together a couple of slightly different angles. We're going to grab the Bruins Over 2.5 team total, expecting them to continue to find success in getting pucks past Luukkonen.

From there we're going to Sabres pest Zach Benson to get at least two pucks on net, he's hit three (or more) in four of his last five and he's working to be a thorn in the side of the Bruins. Finally, we'll finish off with that Aspirot blocked shots number.

We'll just have to hope that Aspirot's second block doesn't prevent Benson's third shot from reaching the net.

💵 Bruins vs. Sabres SGP picks

  • Boston team total Over 2.5 goals (-140)
  • Zach Benson Over 1.5 shots on goal (-155)
  • Jonathan Aspirot Over 1.5 blocked shots (+110)

Best odds: +475 (0.25u -> 1.19u)

💡 How I'm betting Bruins vs. Sabres

Follow all of our NHL analysis and expert predictions this season.

Just a normal playoff game, and I'm rolling the same as usual. Two units dedicated to the game, split between a play on the moneyline, total, and player prop. Sometimes, I like to split the player prop unit into two plays, but this Aspirot line is jumping out to me again for Game 2 as it did when it cashed in Game 1.

Still, there is no reason to get carried away. Emotions run high in the playoffs, we're treated to wild games often. Just handle this with care, remember to be consistent with your bankroll management, and things will continue to work out.

📊 Live Bruins vs. Sabres odds: Game 2

Traders at the best sports betting sites have all of the information they need at this point in the season to make what they believe are sharp lines, and the movement since these lines open is minimal. I'm not expecting to see a lot more movement here, although I do think that the public will probably pour money in on Buffalo as the days goes in so the price might improve slightly for the Bruins.

The total is actually trading at 6.5 at some operators, and a flat 6 at others. It's a bit of a sign that money is money in on the Over following the seven goal outburst in the opener. I think searching the flat 6 for the Under is fine - Sunday's final was the result of a total defensive breakdown, an empty net goal, and then a wildly deflected shot that snuck in with six seconds left.
