Sports Interaction Review

SIA could be positioned to make a dent in the massive Ontario sports betting market. But while the product stands up well, the lack of a mobile app and a mediocre props market, among other things, will make it difficult for Sports Interaction to keep up with the lead pack.

DraftKings Review

DraftKings has a decent reputation among the sports betting community, especially for beginner bettors. It already had a loyal base of DFS customers, so the shift to legal sports betting was natural. However, if you’re a sharp bettor, high-limits bettor, or even lucky enough to go on a tear, you will not be very welcomed.

The sports betting platform at BetMGM is easily one of the most popular in the online sports betting market. While this book won’t wow you with its design, you won’t find many apps easier to navigate – or with the sheer volume of sports markets Betway offers. When it comes to the sports betting experience, there’s plenty sorely lacking here. From the vig-heavy odds to the strangely complicated interface to the list of sports with a more European audience in mind, it stands to wonder whether TonyBet truly cares about its Canadian audience.

How we rate and review Canada betting sites

At our core at Sportsbook Review (SBR), we are committed to thoroughness and integrity when assessing the top sportsbooks in the industry. We believe in going the extra mile by immersing ourselves in the process, enabling us to provide you with authentic insights.

Our ratings aren't just assigned arbitrarily; they are a product of an ongoing process designed to deliver accurate and current assessments.

Key Factors and Features Considered

  • Customer Experience: We believe in experiencing the sites as you would. From account setup to placing bets and withdrawals, we navigate each step to evaluate user-friendliness and efficiency.
  • Promotions: Whether its a nice sign-up bonus or other ongoing offers throughout the sporting calendar, the best betting sites in Canada keep customers engages with a steady stream of promotions, like odds boosts, bonus bets, or No Sweat Bets.
  • Community Validation: Our findings are cross-referenced with our extensive community, which bolsters the authenticity of our assessments.
  • Customer Support: Prompt, reliable customer service is paramount. We test response times and effectiveness to ensure you're supported when needed. Operators with 24/7 Live Chat or Phone support rank the highest.
  • Financial Transactions: We scrutinize deposit and withdrawal processes, emphasizing safety and efficiency.
  • Bet Limit Policy: Transparency in bet limits is crucial. Any alterations are closely monitored and evaluated.
  • Odds comparison: Every sportsbook offers slightly different odds for the same games. Careful bettors can use these differences to edge out a little more profit. For example, making a $10 bet at +100 pays out $20 if you win, but getting the same pick at a different book for +115 would net you $21.50.
  • Value: From welcome offers to which operator has the best sportsbook referral bonus, we assess how much value each betting site provides both new and recurring users.

Continual Assessment and Unwavering Quality

Our commitment doesn't end once a rating is assigned. We frequently reassess sportsbooks to ensure they maintain the high standards we demand. We understand the importance of ongoing excellence, and our community's feedback keeps our evaluations current.

And we don't just recommend – we participate. From marquee events like the Super Bowl, World Cup, World Series, NBA Finals, and Stanley Cup to March Madness betting sites, we engage with the sportsbooks we endorse.

Team Canada's men won their first game against Czechia, and have two more preliminary games this weekend. Yes, sports betting is legal in Canada. Each province and territory regulates the legality of sports betting. Most regions offer government-operated sports betting platforms, and single-game wagering was legalized at the federal level in 2021. This allows Canadians to engage in sports betting activities as well as online casino Canada and online slots Canada within the guidelines established by their respective jurisdictions.

So far, only Ontario has launched a full licensed and regulated iGaming market. Alberta is on track to follow suit before the end of 2025. However, numerous respected international sportsbooks will still accept players from the rest of Canada's provinces and territories.

Alberta

Alberta sports betting is available through through PlayAlberta.ca, with retail single-game betting via Sport Select.

Looking ahead, the Alberta Gaming, Liquor, and Cannabis (AGLC) plans to follow Ontario's model and open up its regulated market, with a planned 2026 launch.

If you prefer a different type of gambling experience, you can also check out the best online casino Alberta page.

British Columbia

British Columbia sports betting launched on PlayNow.com on August 27, 2021, rapidly accumulating over $25 million in bets within two months. Operated by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC), PlayNow offers an extensive platform for diverse wagering.

Manitoba

The Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries Corporation (MBLL) introduced legal single-event wagers on PlayNow.com on August 27, 2021. This platform is the province's sole government-regulated online option for Manitoba sports betting.

Meanwhile, the WCLC's Sport Select platform offers retail single-game betting.  While retail sportsbooks are absent, Sport Select permits in-person single-game wagers at select retailers. The MBLL oversees both online and in-person gambling.

New Brunswick

On August 27, 2021, the Atlantic Lottery Corporation (ALC) extended the legalization of single-game sports betting in New Brunswick. The ALC, entrusted with regulating all forms of gambling in NB, governs the province's betting offerings.

The exclusive legal sports betting choice is Pro•Line, which permits wagers on Moneyline, Over/Under, point spreads, and more. Bets can be placed at ALC retailers, and online wagers can be confirmed on the Pro•Line Stadium website.

Newfoundland and Labrador

Following the footsteps of its Atlantic counterparts, Newfoundland and Labrador embraced single-game sports betting on August 27, 2021, under the aegis of the ALC

In line with New Brunswick's model, the ALC holds the reins of legal sports wagering in Newfoundland and Labrador. The province's exclusive legal option for sports betting is Pro•Line, available both online and offline. This platform facilitates wagers across various bet types.

Northwest Territories

Effective November 1, 2021, Northwest Territories residents gained access to legal single-game sports betting opportunities. The Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC) responded swiftly to the Safe and Regulated Sports Betting Act (Bill C-218), introducing an updated Sport Select product merely two months after the federal ban on single-event wagering was lifted in Canada.

While the likelihood of prominent names like FanDuel, DraftKings, and BetMGM entering the region is unlikely, the Northwest Territories remains a region to watch for any changes or advancements in its wagering landscape.

Nova Scotia

Single-game betting debuted in Nova Scotia sports betting on February 11, 2022, just in time for Super Bowl 56. Following similar introductions in neighboring provinces, the Atlantic Lottery Corporation was granted the green light to roll out this initiative in "Canada's Ocean Playground."

Legal betting options include online betting through Pro•Line Stadium and in-person wagers at ALC retailers like convenience stores, grocery stores, and gas stations.

Expanding its offerings, the ALC introduced its online casino product in Nova Scotia on July 21, 2022, further enriching the province's gaming experience.

Nunavut

Thanks to the WCLC Sport Select platform, single-game sports betting has found its footing in Nunavut. This shift marks a pivotal change in the territory's wagering landscape.

While fully online wagering remains uncertain, Nunavut residents can engage in sports betting on significant events like Super Bowl odds and Stanley Cup Final odds at authorized retail locations.

Ontario

Ontario sports betting has evolved significantly over the years. Parlay bets and pari-mutuel wagers have been legal since 1985. The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) introduced single-game online sports betting on August 27, 2021. Further, the province launched a regulated iGaming market on April 4, 2022.

With a focus on enhancing the retail experience, OLG revamped Pro•Line on February 1, 2022. Previously, single-event wagering was exclusive to the province's PROLINE+ betting platform.

Ontario welcomed its first four retail sportsbooks on October 28, 2022. Elements Casino Brantford, Great Blue Heron Casino and Hotel, Pickering Casino Resort, and Shorelines Casino Belleville now house the Great Canadian Sportsbook, offering dedicated sportsbook lounges.

Furthermore, Caesars Sportsbook at Caesars Windsor emerges as the province's sole full-service retail sportsbook.

Prince Edward Island

Prince Edward Island (P.E.I.), Canada's smallest province, has ushered in a monumental shift with the addition of single-game sports betting.

A pivotal change occurred in Aug. 2021 when Bill C-218 was passed, allowing P.E.I. residents to partake in single-game sports betting. This private member's bill successfully amended the Canadian Criminal Code, ending the ban on single-game wagers.

Like other Atlantic provinces, P.E.I. residents have one online platform, Pro•Line Stadium. However, the prospect of private sector operators entering the P.E.I. market remains uncertain.

Quebec

The Quebec sports betting scene, characterized by the long-standing presence of Loto-Québec, has witnessed noteworthy transformations amidst evolving regulatory dynamics.

Loto-Québec's sports betting offering, Mise-o-jeu, has enriched Montreal and the province for over two decades. Unlocking the sports betting sphere, Bill C-218 facilitated the expansion of Mise-o-jeu to include online (Mise-o-jeu+) and offline single-game betting.

While neighboring provinces explore third-party sports betting opportunities, Quebec's stance remains distinct. The prospect of renowned operators like FanDuel, DraftKings, or BetRivers establishing a presence in QC appears remote.

Saskatchewan

Saskatchewan has embraced the digital wagering era, introducing online sports betting through the BCLC's PlayNow.com platform on November 3, 2022, regulated by the Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority.

Saskatchewan now stands alongside other Canadian regions by offering locally-run online sports betting, bolstered by the PlayNow.com platform.

In addition to local options, reputable offshore sportsbooks operating under Malta, Gibraltar, and UK licenses cater to Saskatchewan residents.

Yukon

Yukon's wagering horizon is characterized by permissiveness for residents aged 19 and above to engage with Canada's best sports betting sites. While the only constraint is the operator's location, offshore sportsbooks licensed in legitimate jurisdictions find a legal home in Yukon.

Notably, online sports betting sites operating only under local government licenses are exceptions, especially those under Western Canada Lottery Corporation supervision. While operational elsewhere, prominent operators like FanDuel Ontario, BetRivers Ontario, and DraftKings do not cater to Yukon residents.

Canada boasts a vibrant sports culture, with several sports capturing the hearts of its residents. Let's delve into some of the most popular sports in the country, their significance, prominent leagues, and teams, as well as the diverse betting markets they offer.

NFL 🏈

The National Football League (NFL) enjoys immense popularity in Canada. Despite having its own Canadian Football League (CFL), many Canadians are ardent NFL fans. The league's electrifying matches, including the Super Bowl, garner substantial attention. The intense rivalry between the Buffalo Bills and the Kansas City Chiefs, among others, draws significant interest. Betting markets for the NFL encompass point spreads, totals, player props, and futures. Discover more about NFL betting on our NFL betting sitesparlay betting sites, and prop betting sites pages.

NHL 🏒

Hockey holds a special place in the hearts of Canadians, with the National Hockey League (NHL) captivating the nation. As home to several NHL teams, Canada's passion for ice hockey runs deep. Notable teams like the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Montreal Canadiens spark fervent rivalries. Betting markets for the NHL encompass puck lines, totals, player props, and Stanley Cup futures. Explore NHL betting possibilities on our NHL betting sites page.

NBA 🏀

The National Basketball Association (NBA) has steadily gained traction in Canada. With the Toronto Raptors winning the NBA championship back in 2019, basketball fever is at an all-time high. Iconic teams like the Raptors and the Vancouver Grizzlies (now in Memphis) have left a significant mark. Betting markets for the NBA include point spreads, totals, player props, and championship futures. Get a closer look at NBA betting options on our NBA betting sites page.

MLB ⚾

Baseball, though originating south of the border, holds a special place in Canada's sporting fabric. The Toronto Blue Jays are Canada's lone MLB team, and their successes (or, more recently, their potential for it) have fueled the nation's enthusiasm for the sport. Betting markets for MLB include moneylines, run totals, player props, and World Series futures. Explore MLB betting avenues on our MLB betting sites page.

Golf ⛳

Golf, with its global appeal, resonates deeply in Canada. The country has produced golfing legends like Mike Weir and Brooke Henderson. Major tournaments like The Masters and the Canadian Open captivate Canadian golf enthusiasts. Betting markets for golf include outright winners, top-10 finishes, and head-to-head matchups. Discover more about golf betting on our Golf betting sites page.

Soccer ⚽

A great sports betting site will also cover each sport in significant depth. When it comes to soccer, it is not enough to simply cover the Premier League, Champions League, La Liga, Serie A, and MLS. The best betting sites will offer lines on a range of tournaments taking place around the world, including the World Cup and UEFA European Championship. Most Canadian betting sites will have soccer markets and dozens of pro leagues from around the world.

Combat sports 🥊

Canadians love the sweet science of boxing and the thrill of a championship tilt in the Octagon. The best Canadian sportsbooks offer a huge range of betting markets on all major boxing events and mixed martial arts cards, including the UFC. To learn more about which sites offer fight fans the best experience, read up on our best boxing betting sites and best UFC betting sites

Political betting 🏛️

Betting on elections and political races (including domestic ones) is totally legal in Canada. The market really saw a surge ahead of the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election and that momentum carried into the Canadian Federal Election in April 2025.

Not every sportsbook offers odds for these markets, but the best political betting sites in Canada have lines for multiple major international elections. For example, bet365 offers odds on the next Permanent Party Leader in Australia, the next President of Ireland, the Party with the Highest Vote Percentage in Sweden, which U.K. party will win the most seats, and even early odds on the 2028 U.S. Presidential Election.

Novelty bets 🎥

There is a growing market for Novelty Bets on many of the best Canadian betting sites. These are typically (but not always) focused away from the sporting world. Recent examples of novelty betting markets include the 2024 Video Game Awards, the Juno Awards, and a whole host of Taylor Swift props as the megastar singer brought the Eras Tour into Toronto and Vancouver. For the record, SBR's very own James Bisson completely nailed it by picking Astro Bot as his Game of the Year.

How to pick the best Canadian betting sites

Your task is to find an online betting site that perfectly caters to your needs. Some gambling sites excel when it comes to sharp lines and bonuses, while others offer reduced juice on your bets, and some really perform better than all their rivals when it comes to rapid withdrawals.

However, the best betting sites all have some things in common: a strong reputation for treating customers fairly, the liquidity to cover any winnings, a commitment to maintaining the highest safety standards, a history of prompt payouts, and strong market coverage of major sports leagues, popular sports including boxing, tennis, and soccer, and pursuits like college football.

We only assign A or A+ ratings to the online betting sites that excel across the board. Check out the online betting sites that have received these coveted ratings, and then delve a little deeper to find your perfect match.

What online betting features matter to you?

How often will you be betting? How many sports will you be betting on? Do you value a sign-up bonus more highly than sharp lines? What type of bets does it offer? Do you like to bet on a range of sports? Are you so busy that you need a betting site that allows you to simply place a bet as quickly as possible? Do you need a betting platform with a robust in-play section?

Are you looking for the best online casinos, poker rooms, and race books alongside the betting site? Do you prefer to bet in dollars, or would you like to take advantage of the manifold benefits that Bitcoin (or other cryptocurrencies) offers to the modern sports bettor?

Work out your priorities and then choose the right online gambling company for you. It is also sensible to sign up for multiple accounts with the best online betting sites, because you can take advantage of multiple bonus offers, and then choose the sports betting website that has the most attractive odds on the market you are interested in each time. The best online betting sites excel across the board, with generous odds, great bonuses and a fantastic user experience.

Strong banking options 🏦

The ease with which you can make deposits and withdrawals is a key consideration when choosing the betting sites that are right for you. Most sports fans appreciate a wide range of deposit options to choose from. Lots of betting sites allow you to deposit using major credit cards or make e-wallet deposits through the likes of Skrill, Neteller and PayPal. Credit card processing varies depending on the sports betting operator you visit. Our detailed review pages are intended to assist you in this matter. Sports betting sites have also fully embraced the cryptocurrency revolution, and many will allow you to deposit with Bitcoin and other digital coins. There are generally plenty of obscure deposit options to choose from when betting online, including prepaid cards, vouchers and pay by phone methods. You should be able to deposit and withdraw cash in a safe and secure manner when betting online.

The best betting sites use the top rated SSL encryption software to protect your financial details when making a deposit. Some bettors like to use Bitcoin for deposits as it does not require any personal details, but sports betting sites should offer safe deposits regardless of the method used.

You should be aware that many betting sites change the range of deposit and withdrawal options in different countries. Some sports fans in the United States may not be able to use Skill or Neteller when making a deposit, for instance. Credit cards, bank transfers and even checks can be used in these circumstances. If you are struggling to make a deposit, get in touch with customer service. All the best sports betting sites will have friendly, helpful customer service staff that are keen to help you out.

Fast withdrawal times 💸

Betting sites are always keen to take your hard-earned cash, but making withdrawals can be another matter entirely. Many betting sites have a reputation for failing to pay customers their winnings, while others will delay payments for a long time before finally agreeing to release the funds. We have been holding these shady sports betting sites to account since 1999 and we will always shine a light on rogue operators. Withdrawal times naturally vary according to the method you choose. The fast withdrawal betting sites have several methods. Withdrawals to e-wallets like Skrill and Neteller are generally rapid, but you may have to contend with processing fees. One method that is really slow is a check. This can take many business days to arrive, and the same is true of a wire transfer, so choose one of the faster methods like Bitcoin if you are in a rush to get your money.

Regardless of the method you choose, good sports betting websites will strive to pay you in a prompt fashion. A number of the best online sports betting operators pride themselves on rapid payouts, as they know that this will boost their reputation and keep customers coming back to bet again and again. We consult our vast community of online sports bettors and gauge feedback on payout times, while we also bet with real money at each of the betting sites in operation and make withdrawals before judging how strong it is on this front.

Great customer service ☎

A strong customer service team is a fantastic asset to any serious online sports betting site. Staff should respond to your requests rapidly, and they should be polite, friendly and helpful. The best online gambling sites will have a customer service team working 24/7, 365 days a year, and sports fans will be able to choose from multiple means of communicating with it, including phone, email and live chat. A robust FAQ section is another bonus. We interact with the customer service team at each website we review and ask various questions to test competence, speed and helpfulness.

Customer service representatives should be able to answer all manner of sports betting questions in a polite, friendly and professional fashion. The best sports betting website customer service teams are experienced, knowledgeable and eager to help. You should benefit from minimal or non-existent wait times, and the answers you receive should be clear, concise and relevant. Many operators fall down on customer service, but great operators offer a superb all-round experience, which is why it is rated as one of our top sports wagering sites.

What is the most trusted betting site in Canada?

Sports betting is legal across Canada, but Ontario remains the only province with a fully licensed and regulated iGaming market (Alberta is expected to follow suit later this year). Understandably, this creates some confusion around which betting sites in Canada are actually trustworthy.

Although offshore sportsbooks are available to use in other provinces, they are not directly regulated by provincial laws. All of the sportsbooks recommended on this page have been thoroughly vetted. However, if you want to stick to licensed and regulated betting sites, I'd go with bet365

Having operated as a global betting powerhouse for over two decades, bet365 is one of the most trusted names in sports betting. Plus, they're one of the few betting sites to hold a gaming license in Ontario and also be available to use legally throughout the rest of Canada.

Key developments in Canada sports betting

Variety of Canadian betting options

This is the most important consideration for many sports bettors.
