Group F isn't settled yet, so there's lots on the line as I make my best Japan vs. Sweden prediction. While it's incredibly likely that the Netherlands will shore up the group, Japan will be aiming to get at least one point out of this one in the event they slip up. And sportsbooks think that's in the cards, with Japan lined as a -106 moneyline betting favorite.

My World Cup best bets find more angles to attack this one from than just the moneyline, though.  The action from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, gets started at 7 p.m. ET, and is airing on FOX, Universo, and FOX One.

⚽ Who will win Japan vs. Sweden?

Japan and Sweden both have plenty to play for, but the edge clearly lies with the Asian side. We just saw Sweden's rigid, aged backline get absolutely exposed against the Netherlands on Matchday 2, and tonight it should be exposed by an adept Japan counterattack.

Sweden will need to push high for the result, and that will leave spaces behind that slow defense. While Sweden's Isak/Gyokeres duo is live to keep Sweden in this game, I'm backing the fluidity and dynamism of the Japanese side to outdo them.

Score prediction: Japan 2, Sweden 1

💵 My best bet:Japan vs. Sweden Over 2.5 (-110)

I mentioned above all the reasons this is a play that I'm backing tonight. Sweden needs to push numbers forward to get a result and have plenty of star power to do so. Japan also needs a result, and is uniquely positioned to take advantage of a slow backline with their lethal counters. I don't see this as much of a coinflip as the odds might indicate.

Daichi Kamada, M, Japan (+333)

There are a few players on Japan that should find the back of the net today, but I'm going to roll with the only one that's scored in both games so far. Kamada's runs into the box have paid dividends for Japan, scoring from 10 yards and 4 yards out. Consequently, that's around the range that four of the six goals Sweden has given up have come up, making him uniquely positioned to repeat the same as Japan takes advantage of the slow Sweden backline I mentioned above.

Best Japan vs. Sweden goal-scorer pick: Daichi Kamada (+333 via bet365)

I have a few other plays from this game in my World Cup predictions for Thursday, and I also have plays on every other game on the slate as we wrap up Groups D, E, and F.

🥅 Will both teams score in Japan vs. Sweden?

There are enough boxes ticked here to think that both teams will score in Japan vs. Sweden. The Swedes are in desperation mode with the lethal Isak and Gyokeres up top, and the Japanese are set up to take advantage of a slow backline through a counterattack. I like the Over and I like BTTS: yes tonight as both squads push for a result.

Both teams to score (BTTS) pick: Yes (-143 via bet365)
